Mitten Movie Project Submissions
The Mitten Movie Project is looking for representatives of the digital revolution. Submit your Mini DV movies to screen at our monthly festival.
If you are a filmmaker working in digital video, we want to show your work to the world. Contact the Mitten Move Project at ed@thoughtcollide.com for information on submitting an application.
The Mitten Movie Project is committed to showcasing world class movies in Detroit the headquarters of the MiniDV Revolution! We believe that the MiniDV format is putting the ability to create world class movies into the hands of some very talented people who have a true revolutionary vision.
We are dedicated to promoting the filmmakers and films accepted into the festival. We have scheduled monthly movie screenings as a second opportunity to showcase the work of those filmmakers who submit to the Mitten Movie festival (its like two festivals in one!). Together with thoughtcollide, we are committed in making Michigan a major player in the film industry and helping to take the film community in Michigan to the next level.
We have filled theaters for over a year. Our audience is regularly polled so that the filmmakers may benefit from feedback from real people after viewing their movies. Such feedback has proved invaluable to previous submitters. Following the Mitten Movie Project, results will be sent to the submitter via email, helping identify the movies strengths and suggest improvements.

Queen of the Underground Pageant at Hasting St Ballroom
Detroit – Gone are the days of swimsuit competitions and wishes for world peace, starting last year Thought Collide brought you the beauty pageant that celebrates the subcultures of Detroit, the known, the barely known and the unknown. Detroit demands a new queen – A new Queen of the Underground. Come to her coronation beginning at 9 pm on Saturday November 18 at the Hastings Street Ballroom, 715 E. Milwaukee, Detroit MI, 48202.
You might ask what “Underground” is. It is defined so well by each contestant that there is no one definition. In the broad range, it is someone who lives life both in and beyond the mainstream, reaching beyond the surface to embrace all that Detroit has to offer, in its people as well as its world.
Evening Wear and Talent Competitions will not be the fare for this evening. Categories like Elegant, Lingerie and Anything Goes help catapult this competition to the next level. Decadence and Debauchery will rule the court as the queen is chosen by a jury of her peers, celebrity underground judges include Jamie Sonderman of Thought Collide, Karen Neal of Queen Bee, Sculptor Ron Landry, Anthony also known as Dark Visions Studios and Jim Diamond, former bass player for The Dirtbombs and music producer for the famed Ghetto Recorders
This years pageant will take place during the Edgewise art exhibit. This exhibit will showcase the work of local artists such as David Lingle, J.B.Davis, Betsi Pipis, Mark Sengbusch, Tracy Brown, Rick Lieder, DVS, Ed Gardiner, Tracy Brown, Rob Bolderson, Taurus Burns, Andrew Drisko, Jack Johnson, Deborah Kashdan Barbara Brown King, Gerardo Macias-Garcia, Andy Malone, Jennifer Quigley, Iggy Sumnik, Bec Young and others. A piece has been selected from several artist to be auctioned off in a silent auction, This silent auction will benefit the artists whose work was stolen during the Fourth Friday Edgewise show in July of this year.
Entertainment provided by DJ Mike Clark, Steffie Loveless, Fire Fabulon and a fetish show by Draconian Productions
